Environment, energy and America's Infrastructure

Our environment is a very limited resource. We are on the only planet that we know of and within reach that can sustain life and we need to do our best to protect that. Global warming is NOT a hoax, it is a scientific consensus on a global issue that will someday cause problems for humanity as a whole. It is not a topic to make a partisan stance on, it is something we must all work together to address. Another important aspect of protecting our environment is ocean acidification. Long before global warming becomes an immediate threat, ocean acidification will kill much of the life in our oceans and the process will actually speed up global warming. Reducing and eliminating carbon emissions and pollution is absolutely necessary if we want the world, much less our country, to be able to last another couple generations.

We need to stop our dependence on fossil fuels, period. We have alternative energy technologies advancing incredibly, we have solar and wind energy technology that if properly utilized can remove our dependence on fossil fuels for good. We need to use it. We need to fund a major overhaul of our nation's infrastructure. We need to invest in more solar energy production, more wind energy production, more hydroelectric production and even newer nuclear energy technology for energy production. We need to utilize the advanced technology we have to meet our energy needs for the future. We need to stop protecting our financial interests in fossil fuels and start protecting our future sustainability. Anyone who argues against this has one concern, money. Anyone who argues that global warming and environmental damage isn't a problem is doing so for financial gain or for the financial gain of those who fund their campaigns. We as a planet need to come together and solve this problem before it's too late to turn back (which is coming a lot faster than many politicians would have you believe).

We also need to address other infrastructure problems. We need better roads, better public transportation, and we need to make sure there is enough fresh water for everyone. If we wait to address these issues until the last minute, until they're an immediate problem, then we will not be able to solve them efficiently. I will do my part as a member of congress to make sure that we are working toward removing our dependence on fossil fuels, building up our infrastructure and protecting our environment and natural resources.
